Agates mostly occur as nodules in volcanic rocks or waters
containing Silica in solution which is possibly derived from the
decomposition of Silicates in the lava. The Siliceous matter is deposited
in regular layers resulting in the banded or striped formation. It is
very unlikely that you would ever find an exact duplicate of any
type of Agate, Fairburn or other.

Dry Head Agates are from the Bighorn Canyon area of Montana. The
banding colors are usually bright orange with some white or pink bands on
charcoal, light gray, whitish oranges or greenish matrix. Dry Head Agates
are very rare and no longer available as the mining area is now part of a
wild horse refuge. Dry Head Agates may be geologically similar to the
Teepee Canyon and Fairburn Agates of the Black Hills area.
