BK100b Here is a very unique set
of Brown Orthoceras bookends from
Morocco. This exceptional set measures 7 3/4" wide x
6" tall x 2 3/8". The bookends have been cut and carved from Fossil Rock material to
expose the very unique Orthoceras fossils. The set has a neat
combination of fossil marble and a beautifully polished Orthoceras
protruding on each side. The bookends make great decorator pieces as well as super collectibles
for the fossil hunter.
The set weighs 7 lbs. 2.1 oz. Orthoceras is a genus of extinct Nautiloid Cephalopod. These fossils are common and have a global distribution which occur in any marine rock, especially Limestone. These are slender, elongated shells with the middle of the body chamber transversely constricted and a sub-central orthochoanitic siphuncle. The surface is ornamented by a network of fine lirae or fine lines/ridges. |

This is a very pretty set of Dugway Geode bookends.
This gorgeous set has a beautiful design and very nice sparkling Geode
cavity on the both sides. The bookends measure 10 3/4" wide x
5 1/8" tall x 2 7/8" with highly polished
face and grey felt on the inner and bottom surfaces for protection. Just nice!
Total weight is 5 lbs. 3 oz. Geodes are geological rock formations which occur in sedimentary and certain volcanic rocks. They are essentially rock cavities or vugs with internal Crystal formations or concentric banding. The exterior is generally Limestone while the interior contains Quartz Crystals and/or Chalcedony deposits. If the Geode is completely filled with Crystal, being solid all the way through, it is then called a nodule. |

Rose Quartz Bookends |

Madagascar. This
unique set measures approximately 6 1/2" wide x 5 5/8" tall x
3 1/2". They are polished on the front face and have a very cool design. They have felt on the bottom to protect wood from being scratched. Truly "one of a kind

This set weighs 6 lbs. 11.9 oz. Quartz is the second most common mineral in the Earth's continental crust. It is mainly composed of Silica or Silica based minerals. Although Quartz is known by a variety of names, the most important distinction between types of Quartz is that of macro-crystalline, individual crystals visible to the unaided eye, and micro-crystalline, where aggregates of crystals are only visible under high magnification. There are many forms of Quartz including Chalcedony, Amethyst, Citrine, and Carnelian which are results of mineral impurities or heat treatments. |

This is a lovely set of Blue (color enhanced) Brazilian
Agate Geode bookends. This set measures 8 1/2" wide x nearly 5" tall
x nearly 2 7/8" with a nicely polished front face and inside surfaces.
The set has awesome Agate banding, crystal, crystal cavity, pretty
"rainbow" reflections all in a very cool design. It
also has the ability to be rearranged to give it a whole new look. Just lovely!

Septarian Bookends |

Here is a very nice set of Septarian bookends. This gorgeous
set measures 10 1/4" wide x 5 1/2" tall x 3" with a nicely polished front
face. The set has lots of Brown Aragonite and contrasting Yellow
Calcite. They have fabulous deep crystal cavities on each side exposing the
Calcite crystals making this an exceptional set! As an added feature take
note od the cool Barite crystal on the right side of the set. These
bookends have grey felt in the middle and bottom for protection. Just very nice!
The set weighs 8 lbs. 1.2 oz. Septarians are commonly composed of a carbonate mineral such as Calcite, a microcrystalline form of Silica as in Flint or Jasper, or an Iron Oxide such as Hematite. These specimens are also known as a concretion which is a type of sedimentary rock. Septarians were formed millions of years ago by sediment forming around a fossil to create a mud ball transforming the fossil into Calcite and Aragonite. |

set of Conifer Petrified Wood bookends from Arizona with a
very unique design. The set measures 10 5/8" wide x 7 1/8" tall x

The outer edge "bark" area is truly exceptional! As an added bonus
this set has rare Agate banding! They have black felt on the inside and

Sea Jasper Bookends |

Here's a new item, an exceptional set of Sea Jasper bookends from
Madagascar. This set has a beautiful mix of color, glistening sparkle and lots of "eyes" all in a stunning design. They measure

They have Black felt in the middle and bottom for protection. This set is

This set weighs 4 lbs. 11.9 oz. This material is a new find from Madagascar. The deposit formed as a rhyolite flow but has been completely silicified. The Rhyolitic eyes or orbs come in an astonishing array of colors and color combinations. The back ground can be white, pink, green, red, or yellow. Botryoidal formations as well as white and deep green druzy are also common. This deposit has been discovered at the edge of the ocean. It can only be seen and collected at low tide. The area has no road so the material must be transported to civilization by boat. This material is fast becoming a rarity in the Jasper ocban fields, so get one while it is still available. |

Total weight is 4 lbs. 12.6 oz. Onyx is a banded variety of Calcite. The colors of its bands range from white to almost every color except shades of purple, blue and black. It is used for vases, bowls, beads, cabochons and other items. This type is found in Mexico and Pakistan and is often carved and polished into various items. This material is much more readily available and softer than the gemstone commonly called Black Onyx which is a silica gem. |

Bird's Eye Rhyolite Bookends |

great new item, an exceptional set of Bird's Eye Rhyolite bookends from
Mexico. They have a lovely Pink color with lots of neat "eyes". This large
set measures 9 5/8" wide x 5 3/4" tall x 2" and have a matt polish. Grab

The set weighs 6 lbs. 1.8 oz. Rhyolite is an igneous, volcanic rock that is composed of Felsic, or Silicate minerals such as Silica, Aluminum, Sodium and Potassium. This material, also called Volcanic Tuft and Rainbow Rock actually began as volcanic ash spewed from the mouth of a volcano millions of years ago. This ash was exposed to heat and pressure that resulted in turning it to stone. The bright banded colors are a result of exposure to high concentrations of iron oxides. The material is similar to that of Granite, Pumice and Obsidian but due to the cooling process when formed, Rhyolite did not form any crystals, thus changing the texture of the material. |
