GAL100b CRINOID FOSSIL PLAQUE
This outstanding Crinoid fossil plaque is from Morocco and has four
very detailed nearly complete Crinoid fossils visible and several more in the
background. The largest Crinoid "calyx" with arms more
near the center measures nearly
10 3/4" from the top to where the stem is at the bottom x at least 4 3/4" wide.
There are other Crinoid calyx and many other stems and pieces scattered about the
large plaque. Overall, this wonderful Crinoid plaque is 19 3/8" tall x 11 3/4" wide and weighs over 10 1/4
pounds. It
makes a truly stunning display for any home or office and is an awesome
addition to your collection.
Crinoids are a fascinating species, and this fossil is
equally as fascinating. Crinoids are echinoderms and are a filter feeding, plant like
marine animal and
first appeared on the earth's surface over 500 million years ago in the
Cambrian Era. Stemmed crinoids flourished in the Paleozoic seas with their
remains abundant in Paleozoic rock sequences. Today a close relative of the Crinoid still survives at the
bottom of the ocean and is usually referred to as a "sea lily."

CRINOID FOSSIL PLAQUE
This Crinoid fossil is an extremely well preserved specimen from
Morocco. It has three nice fairly complete Crinoid fossils and parts
of several others. This plaque in the matrix measures approximately
22" x 20" x 1 3/4" thick and weighs over 35 1/2 pounds. In excavating
these amazing fossils they sometimes break. This particular one has a few
fractures that have been very well repaired and in no way deters from it's
beauty or stability. An excellent addition to any
collection!
