Peacock Marble is from Southwest China and formed in Limestone by heat
and pressure in the earth's crust. Recrystallization during Himalaya
formation caused the limestone to change in texture and makeup. Fossilized
materials along with it's original carbonate minerals, recrystallized and
formed large, coarse grains of calcite. Impurities present in the
limestone during the recrystallization affected the mineral composition of
the marble. The minerals that result from the impurities give the
marble up to ten different colors. The corresponding colors and minerals
that can be found: Green - Serpentine; Purple - Manganese spar; Brown -
Iron; Gray - Silicon Dioxide; Red - Hematite; Orange - Iron; White -
Calcite; Violet - Iron Manganese; Yellow - Limonite; Blue - Copper,
Cobalt, Chromium; Black - Carbon, Iron, Manganese. Peacock Marble is also
called "seven color Jade" in local language. |

Jasper, or spotted stone, is an opaque, impure variety of Quartz that is
usually red, yellow or brown in color. Some Jaspers simultaneously exhibit
several variants such as banding, flow patterns, dendrites or color variations.
This results in what appears to be scenes or images in a cut section of the
Jasper.

Agates mostly occur as nodules in volcanic rocks or waters
containing Silica in solution which is possibly derived from the
decomposition of Silicates in the lava. The Siliceous matter is deposited
in regular layers resulting in the banded or striped formation. It is
very unlikely that you would ever find an exact duplicate of any
type of Agate, Brazilian or other.

Septarians are commonly composed of a carbonate mineral such as Calcite,
a microcrystalline form of Silica as in Flint or Jasper, or an Iron Oxide
such as Hematite. These specimens are also known as a concretion which
is a type of sedimentary rock. Septarians were formed millions of years ago by sediment forming around
a fossil to create a mud ball transforming the fossil into Calcite and Aragonite.

Amethyst is a purple variety of Quartz often used as an ornament.
It occurs in color from a light, slightly pinkish violet to a deep grape
purple. Upon exposure to heat, Amethyst generally becomes yellow,
which some refer to as Citrine or "burnt" Amethyst. It is widely
distributed as a mineral, but fine, clear specimens that are suitable for
cutting as ornamental stones.

due to heat treatments. True Citrine is often rarer but is hard to distinguish
from the heat treated variety. It is widely distributed as a mineral,
but fine, clear specimens that are suitable for cutting as ornamental stones.

Petrified Wood is a type of a fossil as it consists of fossil wood where
all the organic materials have been replaced with minerals while retaining
the original structure of the wood. These minerals are most often Silicates
such as Quartz. Other minerals, Manganese, Iron and Copper, in the water
or mud during the petrification process give Petrified Wood a variety of color
ranges: black - Carbon; green/blue - Copper; red/brown/yellow - Iron.
Petrified Wood can preserve the original structure of the wood in all its
detail all the way down to the microscopic level. Structures such as
tree rings and the various tissues are often observed features. Although
Petrified Wood can be found worldwide, it is rather rare in larger quantities
and at times can be difficult to obtain by the average collector.

parallel fibrous bands it exhibits a changeable silky luster or chatoyancy.
It occurs naturally in colors of gold and blue. |

Elestial Quartz also called Skeletal, Alligator and/or Jacare
crystals, Elestial Quartz is most often formed from Smoky or Clear Quartz.
The name relates to the shape or form of the crystal which is made up
of a multitude of pyramidal/triangular terminations which can look like
stair steps layered on top of each other.
Quartz is the second most common mineral in the Earth's continental
crust. It is mainly composed of Silica or Silica based minerals.
Although Quartz is known by a variety of names, the most important distinction
between types of Quartz is that of macro-crystalline, individual crystals
visible to the unaided eye, and micro-crystalline, where aggregates of crystals
are only visible under high magnification. There are many forms of Quartz
including Chalcedony, Amethyst, Citrine, and Carnelian which are results of
mineral impurities or heat treatments.

Geodes are geological rock formations which occur in sedimentary and
certain volcanic rocks. They are essentially rock cavities or vugs with
internal Crystal formations or concentric banding. The exterior is generally
Limestone while the interior contains Quartz Crystals and/or Chalcedony deposits.
If the Geode is completely filled with Crystal, being solid all the way through,
it is then called a nodule.
